MJ Harrold came from a very musical Iowa family. She grew up playing classical piano and was the church organist for her small Midwestern church. After attending college at the University of Northern Iowa on a Performance Scholarship, she moved to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. There she was bitten by the Blues Bug. She moved from Mississippi to Austin, Texas and then came to Colorado in 1986. Throughout her travels she continued to hear some of the best blues, jazz, R&B, Zydeco and Rock performers and continued to pursue singing those "Down Home Blues". Since arriving in Colorado she has been the lead singer for several blues groups like Serious Business, Common Nation, MJ and the Upsetters, MJ and Patrice Show and most recently for almost 3 years Catfish and the Crawlers. She has also performed in several local gospel and jazz groups. MJ has now formed a new group called Mama Raven with 2 other previous members of the Catfish and the Crawlers band Bill Garcia(Drums) and Clarence Johnsen(bass). We've added Larry Warner as the Lead Guitar Player.
